Front spoiler and spare wheel access

Post by peteandnero »

Hi 80-90s,
I just fitted one of the 3 piece replica front spoilers based on the Westfalia Joker 5 piece one. It was a good fit with all the holes for the rivnuts in the right places. I fitted the centre section which was pre-drilled and drilled throughout the side pieces where they overlap the centre part to bolt into the central rivnut positions. The problem is that now to drop the spare wheel it would require the central part of the spoiler to be removed requiring two bolts nd two lower screws to be taken out. Is that standard as it would have been easier to have a cutaway to accommodate the throw of the spare wheel carrier. There are cutaway for the tow hook and for the release pull for the spare wheel.
Am I missing something obvious or is that how it is supposed to be?
All the best, Pete. :?:

The mid section of the replica spoiler should have the area at the top cut away, all the photos online show it to be like the mid section of the 5 piece spoiler. If its not just cut it out.
