Footplate repair

Post by wbmkk »

My MOT is due in a few weeks and the examiner mentioned the right hand side step when the van was tested last year.

Please see image below.

the chap at the garage recommended a local welder who he stated would repair this without any problem. that seemed fine .. take the van in, he cuts out the base and welds in a plate.

However a friend who also owns a T25 says I should try and buy a footplate or whatever it is called online, then take this with me and let the welder fit this.

That sounds OK too, but where would I buy such a footplate ?

thanks

Will probably cost a little extra labour, than if he was to use a piece of "Quality Street" tin... But at least it'll be a proper repair :)

dont think that needs a new step a competent welder could easily cut out the rot and replace the metal.
