Looking for garage that will fix windscreen leak

Post by Campermad »

Hi , im new to this so go easy on me please.i jave read various bits on this forum most days for weeks now and so finally felt brave enough to post.

Ive recently bought a vW T25 , something Ive dreamed of for years- had to wait till older kids we uni age and only one kid travels with us.

Any way i have many problems with it as you can imagine , but its love and im learning stuff i can do myself all the time . However the one i need help with and couldnt do myself is the leaking windscreen. Ive done the tiger seal temp fix but waters still getting in in the passenger side. I now have noticed a huge rusty dashboard hole ( i never knew the dash was tin)
Does anyone know a reasonable priced reputable welding person that could take the screen out weld the bits that need it and replace screen

I live in Derby
And my bus is a 1985 1.9 petrol Devon Moonraker Hi Top

Many thanks
Lisa

Hi Lisa, it's a common fault. I can recommend someone near Tarporley in Cheshire if that's any help?

I would recommend you cancel the screen fitter and arrange for a body repair /vw /classic car , specialist maybe from those already recommended to quote/ take on the job.It should be easy for them to remove the screen without breaking it. Once their repairs are done and the paint is hard enough you could choose who fits and seals the screen back in.Best to have a new vee wib or genuine vw seal fitted.

Im beginning to think that also..he said he would take it out ( and only fit it back if the bodyworks good.
Its not something i dare do myself.
Ive contacted the guy in Cheshire..and have sent him pics..my other problem is i also have a hot soak starting problem so dont want too travel far in case it breaks down.
