Let us know how you get on, and how much. Mine needs doing at some point
Hope all goes well. Actually, its not a garage you want but a competent welder who cares about their work. I did my own. I'm no expert but took my time and it came out fine (see below). Don't forget to buy a new windscreen seal - VW Emporium - JK ones are crappola!

Im in awe of what you have done...i did a weeks welding during a yts in the 90s and would love to learn and be able to fix my bus myself. Clarkes mig welders are cheap bit i am extremely nervous to get one
Believe it or not, that was my first ever welding job - with no night school. Ended up with pigeon poo welding when I started, ground back, then kept going until I'd built it up then ground back again. Its more patience I'd say. As said, about an hours work. An experienced welder would make mincemeat of a job like that I'm sure.

I went to see simon at absolute VW..it was a fantasric place and i fell in love with a few of the t2 baybwindows he was repairing.
The guy was straight up and he said before spending money on fixing the windscrewn which definitly needed welding and possibly the top near the hi top, i should ensure underneath is sound.
He put my bus up on the ramps and idenrified £100s or mpre of work that may be needed for the next MOT ( disks, drums, track rods, bushes , suspension etc etc ) He was honest and said wait till i see how much the MOT costs in the winter before deciding on the invesrment for the window.
SO..for all you purists out there sorry i will have to use sealant for 6 months till i truely know what evil lurks .
Thanks for the advice, and i cant rate Simon highly enough for his knowledge and love of VWs and mostly because of his honesty
