Westfalia swivel

Post by 69chop »

Hi there,
Can anyone tell me how this would have been welded in place ?
It seems to fit perfectly between the existing runners, not sure if I need to cut the old ones out ?
I've positioned it slightly forward to allow the battery lid to shut, not sure if I should cut the battery lid to allow it to sit further back in line with the old runners.

Dont cut the runners off ! The base sits back like you have shown, the battery lid will have to shortened, there is a factory short lid ,the length is 145 mm including the hinge.

I took my battery lid off rather than shortening it (drilled out rivets on hinge) and made a cover that clips on, so I could return it to original if required. That was with a bolt-on swivel seat base though.

The base is just welded to the runners on the top edge in 4 places each side - you should be able to see where it was cut...

here is a pic:

it looks they used 6 15-20mm long welds per side in the factory

The battery lid for swivel base is shorter than normal
