I just measured the panel thickness at the wheelarch and it was 1.6mm thick, there will be some paint so maybe it's a bit less but I wonder if it's better to try and match thickness.
Had a search and there is an FH brundle just around the corner who do 1mx2m sheets for around 20 quid, thjnk I will get one to practice but what thickness is best?

I got some from Solent Body Supplies down by St Mary's not sure how that compares with Brundels?

just over 20 quid for a 2mx1m x1.2mmsheet, you can just drive in and collect, no account needed, you of course need a van but most of us have one
I'm lucky enough to have a guillotine at work to slice it up for practice.

I have used one of these panels. They are great and thicker steel than original.
1987 VW T25: Subaru EJ20 using RJES parts (If it was meant to go fast it wouldn't be brick shaped!)
