If I'm honest I could live with the squeak (served as a reminder to turn them off) it was the rusting part that was the main issue.
I did bend them a bit and let slap, but squeak they did.
Have replaced the washer jets and front washer pump recently that's made a massive improvement as well.

Am I right in saying that I read somewhere (in the Bentley manual?) that the arms need to present the blades to the screen at exactly 90 degrees? I'm fairly sure it also mentioned something about twisting the arms to coax them round to 90 degree blade presentation, if need be.

Mine are woefully bad at wiping the windscreen (another small job on the list of many...) and upon inspection, I found them both to be off by quite a large amount; nowhere near presenting the blade perpendicular to the wind-screen. So, this results in screeching blades in one direction, with water removal (well, some) in the other direction.

So, perhaps worth checking how square the arm presents the blade to the glass?

Oh, I also discovered that it's easy for the blade-housing (for want of a better term) to actually get stuck up against the wiper arm, thus pulling it up a couple of mm from the glass. Gave it a quick tug and it popped away from the arm and now presses against the glass.

At some point, I'll pull out the dual-action polisher and attack the (very old) glass with an aggressive compound, then finish with something finer. Just whipping of a tiny amount should pull out any debris and remove the majority of fine scratches, allowing the wipers to contact a bit better and do their job properly.

Nearly 3 years on and still have the same problems with these crappy metal framed Bosch wipers.



I don't know if these were available 3 years ago but they are now, get the pair for £16.80 from car parts 4 less

I tried those plastic backed things, great for about a month, then after some very warm conditions ( about this time last year , remember that ) and then a massive thunderstorm and they were hopeless, lost all the shaping , so the blade became straight and missed half the wipe where the screen is curved .... slung them and went back to cheapo metal replacements which are still on now , but due for a change .

I hope you have better luck at £16 a go !

were your plastic ones Bosch or from the pound shop?

my car wipers are bosch,look the same and last years

Got mine from home bargains.Been on over a year with no problems.

I did have a set of cheap flat blades but they didn't last long and TBH I wsn't keen on the appearance.

Look and perform great, relatively cheap too!

Some designs of blade you can just get away with 20" both sides, others I've found 19"/20" work best. As the seller also offers sets of 3 slightly cheaper I bought 20"/20"/19" to play with, I may now order 20"/19"/19" if possible and I'll have a couple of spare sets.

ahh probably pound shop quality at top end prices as usual from Halfrauds.

I'm not really interested in stories cheap blades that didn't work. These are quality Bosch ones, I will let you know how I get on

Watch out itchy as 90% of the bosch aerotwins on ebay are fake chinese crap

Real bosch have holographic seals on box and cost £20 each

But having bought 3 sets till i got real ones the cheapies work great for a few months

carparts4less = Eurocarparts so I expect they will be Bosch.

I have had some of these type on a couple of cars I have bought. I haven't had any problems with them, though I normally go for the "aero" type I did recently buy some new.
