Engine lid insulation

Post by captain Byrne »

Just bought a sheet of quality insulation for the engine lid. Fire proof and great sound proofing. Doddle to fit.

Have wanted to sort out my droopy, hairy, bits-fall-off-and-get-sucked-into-the-oil-cooler original insulation since I got the van and never really found anything that seemed suitable.

Until I followed your link - bought a sheet and fitted it today. Cheap, quieter than before and looks brilliant!

Bloody fantastic, top find mate!

Cheers,
Dickie

Yep - just ordered the one sheet which is enough for both sections. Draw the template to the right shape & cut it with a largish sharp knife. Works a treat.

I was just wondering if any one stuck this in place with glue (the instruction recommend a neoprene based spray adhesive) or do the bits of wire hold it in place?

Doesn't need glue. It's not that flexible so holds in place really well with the wires. Just make sure you cut it out to the same size as the original & it'll tuck in pretty snugly.

Hi - I am a new T25 owner (Hi!) - I have just bought some of this to sort out my old flaking engine cover insulation, great tip, thanks - one thing I wanted to check - is it an issue at all that the foil cover could reflect heat back into the engine and cause a higher temperature than the manufacturer insulation does? Just wanted to double check as I'm a total newbie on all this.

thanks
John

Chris,
They've changed their website so the original link has moved. The correct product is here: https://www.asap-supplies.com/quietlife ... e-product1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's called Quietlife Soundproofing Slimslab 23mm.
Pete.
