Anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the midlands?

Thin bits of metal and bright blue light. Including glass & trim.

Anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the midlands?

Post by George22 »

Touch wood, but our van seems to be on an even-keel mechanically (that'll have cursed it....)

...So beginning to look for some pointers for a good bodyshop in the Midlands who can tackle the emerging rust. The van is decaying in some of the usual places (lower seams, very sus bulge (possibly previous poor repair) on bottom of side panel (below fridge / cooker) and a little bit round the windows, part of the gutter etc. Steps seem ok, sliding door and passenger door are ok. I'm 'collecting' some 'new' bits in readiness as I see them - 'new' driver's door, now on the hunt for a decent tailgate - with a (sort of) plan to find someone who can sort things out next winter. Having made a few enquiries already it seems that getting booked in this Spring is probably the only way of being sure of having the van back by next Spring.

There are 2 or 3 specialists that I'm aware of within easy reach of here - Revesby Garage, Johnson Autoworks, a newish outfit in Newark whose name escapes me - but I've not had any direct experience of any of them. Does anyone have any recommendations? Or for that matter, anywhere to avoid? Any tips woulds be great. I'm thinking that I can probably spend a couple of weekends stripping out and repairing the interior (that's ok - it just needs tidying) but beyond that haven't got time to do much else prep-wise as one of our kids has a few health problems at the moment.

We're not after a full resto - we just want to get the bodywork properly sorted and presentable for another few years!
