Body work restoration

Post by stucox14 »

Hi

We bought our T25 last September with intensions of doing it up straight away but soon after we found out number 2 child was on the way so the camper took a set back. Well now number 2 is here and we want to make use of the camper but it has some serious rust issues! See the pics below which show the worst of it. We have about £3500 which we can spend on her but my question is, will this be enough? It will need new panels in places and some patches welded in others. Then of course a re spray.

The main areas of rust are shown but there is also a few spots of surface rust in places.

So what do you think? Is £3500 realistic?

I think you need to talk to Metalmick8y..... :rofl

Spend it on the rot then roller it. Respray can be done in years to come.

Heck of a lot of work there in all the usual places. No idea of cost to buy all the new panels needed and pay someone to do it but would be interested to find out!

just my opinion but with a budget of only 3.5k I would be tempted to sell that one and use the money to get something in better condition. If you can get 1k or a bit more for that one then 4.5-5k should get you a fairly decent, usable, mot'd van.

The good thing about this van is the previous owner had it for 16 years, had it serviced every year and had lots of work done on the engine, pipe changes ect, so we know (or we hope) that it should be ok mechanically for a while.

I've just ordered the 'paint your van' DVD to see if I can save some money that way.

Metal work is now finished!!!

Taken over a year with the help of my welder friend coming when he can, but so pleased he has finished! I'm now looking forward to getting her back on the road!

So next - Can I send my van for MOT without painting it first? It's got several different colour panels now with lots a primer pained over welds!

Thanks

MOT station won't care what colour it is, as long as everything works as it should.
