GRP vs tin bumper

Post by Davidb0208 »

Hi All
Thanks so much for the help so far received, Im fairly new to this so appreciate all your help.

So we were travelling around scotland, having a great time but unfortunately one of those irritating, knee high stone notice boards, got up and attacked the rear of our van, neatly severing the left hand side of our GRP rear bumper, smashing both the left hand bit and the centre piece. Nothing to do with our driving you understand

We have a tow bar on our bus so here are a few questions:

Can we fit a tin one - they seem to be cheaper or will that look silly since we have GRP on the front?
If not - can you advise somewhere cheaper than brickwerks that seem to be charging around £500 for both bits?

Thanks again

Yes, a metal bumper will fit straight on. Be warned though, the cheap metal ones from the likes of Just Kampers are poor quality, spend the extra and buy a better product that will last.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Personally i think it would look wrong with a big bumper up front and a metal one on the back.

Well thanks all. I didnt actually go to no more rusty bits, I found this guy on ebay- for anyone else out there who wants to know - Im going to go down there next week and pick one up. I decided you are right, the tin one will look a bit crap so Im going for the GRP equivalent. Ill let you know how it goes. £190! so thats a saving. I'll take some photos and upload them so you can decide for yourselves if its an investment worth making.

Excellent product, well made and fits as it should, mine have now been on for 9 years with no stress cracks, pleasant guys too which makes it easier to part with cash. I would have recommended earlier but your location doesn't come up, so didn't know if you were local.
