Cork v Rubber gaskets ?

Hi folks,
due to a weeping rocker cover I thought about replacing the gasket.

Can anyone on here who has experience of fitting both cork and rubber gaskets give me the benefit of their experiences. Are the rubber ones worth the extra money and effort of fitting (ie changing the studs)?

I can't find any reviews on Brickie or the interweb. Your input would be much appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Used them on golfs,no leaks,work very well,make sure the rocker box isn’t bent

Personally prefer cork, rubber is much easier to distort too, if your rocker cover is leaking with new gaskets etc check for a misshapen rocker cover, happens a lot due to over tightening which is what makes leaks

Thanks for the replys. I've heard about the covers being warped. Would this be clearly noticeable if placed on a flat surface and if it is a little wobbly is it straightenable or would a replacement be recommended?

Go for rubber! Cork is 60's technology. How many new cars still use cork gaskets!!

Well I went for 60's technology and 60's glue, Copydex (to fasten to cover) and Mocki's finger of grease. AND (another out of context) I still have a dribble!

Used diesel oil is like spilt red wine, a tiny drop goes a hell of a long way. I'm completely flummoxed. I think I'll put a piece of rag to soak it up.
