Mounting the heater valve on an Early Van

Post by Ciaraneng »

Hi folks. I've done a search but couldn't find an answer. I'm replacing the hearer valve above the spare tyre as the old one is dripping. The old one was just suspended between the jubilee clips securing it to the hoses. There seems to be slots suitable for mounting it on both new and old but I can't see anywhere nearby to secure it to. Are these valves normally just suspended on the hoses?

That valve is common across a large range of VW vehicles so may have mounts for other vehicles. I don't remember mine ( diesel) being mounted to anything when I changed mine but that was more than 10 years ago. The cable outer is clamped to the valve with the spring clip so doesn't need anything else to be used to pull/push against. ( don't drop the clip as they are a pain to find!)

I’m sure mine is only suspended by the pipes, haven’t looked at it for years though

Thanks folks. Mine was/is missing the spring clip to fix the outer sheath of the cable to. I'll have to gunther something up. No wonder I was driving around all summer with the heating on.
