rear hub/castle nut removal

So ones side came off relatively easy, however the other side wont move and ive broken my breaker bar that had an additional 2ft of bar on it.so is grinding it off an option? i think if i just buy another breaker bar and try it that will just break. i ve been socking it in plusgas every other day for a week.

Carefully grind it and try to undo it again, or drill it and give it a wack with a chisel between the high points to crack it open.

Yeah I have thought/seen them,how effective are they.im not 100% liking the grinding idea,it seems a bit extreme.i suppose if I buy the nut remover I.will have it fir next time I need to get the nuts off.

Go to a commercial vehicle garage, bung them a tenner and they'll have it off in seconds with a windy gun. It maybe that tyre stations will also have a gun with a socket large enough.

Ended up taking it to a local mechanic who I've never used,off within maybe 3 seconds with an impact gun.
Now hopefully make some progress over the weekend changing both rear brake assembles with a good second hand pair.

We'll how strange,went to make a start on the van tonight.went to undo the castle nut which I had originally got loose myself and it won't move!!!I never did it very tight put a split pin in it and drove maybe 1/2 mile yesterday when I went to get the other side loosen off(this side is still loose it moves)so will have to go somewhere else tomoz as the guy that did it isn't open Saturday.how frustrating and weird.

I sometimes need to extend it with some scrap metal, also handy tool when you need to torque down to correct specs.

Stubborn nuts or bolts - often a slight tighten can result in them being easier to undo.

The one you losened and replaced, sounds like the hub has shifted and tightened against it
