Bosch Fuel Pump Leak

Hi, I have recently discovered a leak on my 1.6TD van between the distributor head and main body of the Bosch VE pump. It leaks when you start the van and then slowly lessens as the engine warms up. From my research it's an o ring that needs replacing. Ive been quoted £450 from a Bosch service centre which is way out of my price range currently after spending a lot on other van problems recently! Has anyone any advice? Is it possible to do myself? Is there somewhere cheaper I should try for a quote? Any step by step guides that I could follow? Any help greatly appreciated.

Thankyou that is really useful! When taking it off/putting it back on is there anything I need to be careful of in terms of engine timing? Ive read a couple of horror stories online about it and this pump?

Timing is so simple that I couldn't imagine anyone getting it wrong! When you are at the stage of doing it give a shout on here and you will get all the advice that you need.
You won't be doing a full strip down will you for that o-ring? I would replace the cold start o-ring also whilst you have the pump off as it is an awkward one to do in situ.
