Coolant leak

Post by AlexanderE »

Have a coolant leakage around the circled area in the picture. It's a T3 Caravelle C 89 with DJ 2.1 engine. Can't figure out the parts and it really looks like someone did there own solution for this. Any ideas? Is the metal pipe going all the way and someone tried to fix it with a hose?

The small hose going down from the t connection goes to the termostat.

it's a bodge to get around the non availability, when the repair was done, of a 2.1 thermostat housing, if you get a 2.1 housing you should be able to plumb it correctly, you may have to replace/obtain some of the hoses, if you look at the Bentley manual and the parts catalogue online you should be able to figure out what has been omitted/bypassed/modified

Thank you! So probably a 1.9 thermostat fitted now right? Get's me angry since a mechanic charged 150€ for a new one 2 years ago...

yes it is a 1.9 thermostat housing which doesn't have the pipe facing the rear of the engine to join to the metal pipe from the oil cooler
