Speedshop exhaust sound

Post by Cobra88 »

Hi guys

I recently fitted a new vwspeedshop exhaust.

I love it for its quality and its fit.

What im not in love with is the sound which to me sounds like it has a hole in it.
There are no leaks at all but still sounds like it leaks.

Has anyone else had this or found a way to quieten it down a little
Maybe a db killer like we have on motorcycle aftermarket pipes?

Otherwise its perfect.

Regards
Rick

I’ve found mine to have just the right amount of grunt Rick and not overpowering at all although I have changed the insulation in the engine hatch.

Are you still finding it loud with the windows closed?

Hi 300CE

Its fine with the windows closed.

I love it otherwise

Van is far better on fuel and noticibly quicker with the speedshop exhaust

Just sounds too much like it has fallen off with the windows open
Esp when passing a wall if that mekes sense.

Ill see if i can make a slight adjustment to it with a db killer

I know what you mean, in a built up space mine reminds me of an 80's mini with a peco exhaust (when i have my foot down going through the gears), but i've been on a few long runs and when in top gear can't really hear it at all.

I agree that she's certainly more perky - i've had mine on a rolling road since and she's pushing out 70.5 bhp at 3777rpm at the mo  . I maybe changing the jets at some point as has been done by Ash1293 for a smoother power delivery (although i'm running a Weber).

Let us know how you get on with the db killer.
