Fuel leak T connection
So I have a leak on the connection for the fuel tank. My concern is this T connection from the fuel tank. Haven't seen those on others? Any ideas? It's a T25 2.1 DJ watercooled.

Re: Fuel leak T connection
do you have a petrol heater?
That hose goes into the vehicle?
or is that a cover under the vehicle?
Perhaps a Syncro?
more details of van and year needed.

So.
So.
So.
Gripe out of the way, looks more like it is dripping down from the tank to me rather than dripping up from the tee.

Re: Fuel leak T connection
Sorry, first post. It was hard to take a good picture because of the sun. It's a 1989 Caravelle Syncro. But the tank dosen't look like the syncro tanks iv'e seen. The plan is to swap all lines. But this is the most urgent part and the connection confuses me since it's not matching any description in manuals/other pictures...
Yeah, it could be from the tank. But the hose from the tank looks bad.

I don't see how that can be a Syncro, there is a differential at the front where the 2wd fuel tank is and the fuel tank in a Syncro is plastic and sits above the gearbox. The one pictured looks like a 2wd fuel tank and the cover for a BA6 heater, so where is the tank mounted, where is the filler ? Is it a South African built one ? Some more pictures would help a lot, but whatever it is you will likely need to replace the lines, they have probably become hard , maybe damaged by E5 or E10 fuel and the crimp(s) are no longer doing the job
is it the one that was for sale on ebay that had been converted to 2wd ?

Re: Fuel leak T connection
Thanks, this has been confusing us. We have been told it's a syncro from vw owners (and I think some papers). But all the specs and have always been 2wd. So though it had been converted but it's just other people that have been confusing us this hole time. It's bought in Sweden were it lives and it's a Caravelle C (probably not converted as we tough). It's just that various parts don't match other specs. But could be repairs with not originial parts maybe. Yes there is a BA6 heater, but not in use.

This is important, while hoses probably need changing tanks often rust through and this looks like fuel is dripping down from above.

Yes probably need to replace the tank. Is there something we can do in the meantime?

Get some more photos up and I'm sure some people on here will be able to help identify and confirm what you have.

Re: Fuel leak T connection
After some more research the extra fuel line seems to be for the BA6 heater. That also explains some other mystery wires and air pipes i've been wondering about. Don't have the on and off switch for the BA6 in the cabin, so that fuel line is just a waste right now.

Re: Fuel leak T connection
It is unlikely to be a BA6 heater on a 1989 watercooled van:(If it is and you need a manual for it I have a copy.)
