Hmm, I didn't know about the small ads in Germany, still branded gumtree here, good to know

Lateral thinking got me looking on subito.it and kijiji.it , I didn't see any 4 speed boxes, but there is a 5 speed, but without the different linkage which I think is needed

And then I found this ad

https://www.kijiji.it/annunci/ricambi-a ... i/50854196

My Italian is fairly poor, but from what I understand this is a T3 breaker who will deliver to you.

Banging the phone number into google gets you this http://www.silanosrl.it/contatti/ so they are located between Turin and Milan

Lunch now, give it half an hour

You can use the 4 speed stick set to stir a 5 spd box, it's not pretty but it can be done.

Morning all, thanks for your support. Me and my family have had a good nights sleep in a hotel. VW garage have had a look at my van and as discussed my gearbox is broken, they didn't seem keen to open it up n rebuild hhaha, so basically I need to find a gearbox with delivery to VW Pisa. They were happy to fit if like for like. Regarding the gearbox is there a correct code, are all the WBX gearboxes the same ie 1.9, 2.1. ?
Carl

Gearbox code is on the side - I'll find a thread for you.

Did you see my earlier post - a seller in Pisa with a 5 speed box (see linkage comment) and breaker near Turin.

I assume your VW Pisa garage can speak to the breaker for you, in case your Italian isn't up to scratch, back in a mo

Cheers
Yeah I spoke to breaker via email and he said no
Regarding the 5 speed would that mean I'd have to get the linkage separate for it? Obv if I cant find 4 speed it's something I'm going to have to look into, and whether the garage would be able to fit it

Honest answer - I don't know on the linkage.

Maybe the seller of the gearbox still has the linkage, maybe the breaker has a linkage (bit disappointing that they don't have a box) ?

Titus says it is possible to use a 4 speed linkage, so you need to find out more from him or Aidan or jebigga

Next step is to find out what gearbox code on the 5 speed box - and soon  ?

As I said earlier - you can use the 4 speed linkage on a 5 speed box. It's not a nice solution but you can learn how to use it and it will get you through your trip.

If tha wants a job doin reet, then tha better do it thi sen (translation to follow)

If you want a job doing right, then do it yourself

They probably don't know where to look, and aluminium doesn't rust

Where does that leave you ?
