Gearbox Linkage

Post by steveo9007 »

Hi everyone,

Might be a bit of a dumb question this. so i bought an Autosleeper and seller told me the engine had been changed from the original 1.9 Petrol engine to what's in it now which is the 1.7 KY Diesel Engine. I am wanting to renew the gearbox linkage from underneath the gearstick all the way to the gearbox to include the gearbox joint with the plastic ball on it. I have checked on Brickworks and they sell the complete kits, my year on van is 1985 and they do 1 kit each for petrol and diesel, can i assume that the gearbox is the original one connected to the petrol engine, or would this have been changed when the diesel engine got put in. The seller was not the original owner so he has no idea when the engine got changed. Any help would be appreciated

Not my area of expertise, changing from WBX to inline engines, but you may find the best way is to crawl under the van and look for the gearbox code

The gearbox "should" have been changed because of the different engine characteristics of a diesel, regardless of physical compatability

and this shows where the code should be

More help needed here guys, i have managed to clean up the area where the gearbox code is but having referred to the links posted by 937, they still mean nothing to me, please see pic below if you can help me identify type of gearbox.

Cancel my last message, i have looked a bit closer at the pic and there is an A before the LD, so i have the ALD gearbox that came with the engine as they match up. :ok
