Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

Help! Which engine?

Post by mozzey »

Hi, my van has died on me after a significant overheat. Garage has told me it has zero compression and needs a rebuild or replacement. It’s a water cooled 1.6 diesel, CS code. Are these easy to get hold of and how much is it likely to cost? I’m getting flummoxed by all the different engine types being sold. It may that I just sell the whole van on as a non runner as also needs considerable bodywork sorting... problem is I’ve fallen in love with him :( . Thanks in advance for any advice

Give these a ring, very highly regarded by many. They'll sort you out with a rebuild.
Alternatively the simplest and best (£ for £) upgrade (starting from a CS) is the 1Y, 1.9 n/a diesel, but getting hard to find now.

I have a CS engine here. It is a VEGE recon that did 20K miles before I swapped it for the AEF engine. Carefully stored since.

PM me if interested. Could be the cheapest option (if not the most powerful!)
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

AW built the bock for my JX last year. No problems and good service, would recommend.
