Autobox final drive diff pan seal

Post by Ciaoflyer »

Hi guys

Just removed diff pan to change oil on final drive. Do I need to light sand bottom of final drive before fitting new gasket?

Cheers

I cleaned up the base with a scraper and some solvent. Check the bottom of the diff cover as it will probably be slightly bent were the bolts go round the edge, I knocked then flat carefully and ran a file over the face to make sure it seated properly. I also used a oil resistant sealant (not too much) and gave it 24 hours before filling up again. :ok
