New post in relation to an earlier post ...

As per above post have completed the refit of new front discs and pads, took van out for a short test drive (3-4 miles) to test breaks seemed fine but on returning and winding the window down I immediately notice a fairly acrid burning smell, parked up and confirmed smell from both front wheels. Finger touched the discs...ouch both red hot.
First time of replacing pads and discs so dont have any prior experience to draw on as to what to expect - are the symptoms to be expected as part of bedding in the new pads/discs and which will eventually dissappear after an initial period. Might have expected the burning smell but the hot discs suggests something more of a problem and I wonder whether caliper pistons maybe be be sticking - took a fair effort to push pistons back when replacing the pads and pushed the fluid reservoir well over max so had to siphoned out to return back to level. New bearings were fitted along with discs.
Will do another test drive later and jack up for inspection - guessing that if pads are dragging on discs it will be fairly obvious in that wheels wont easily rotate.
Is this normal, any views, symptoms which might signifiy a specific cause ?
Thanks
Stuart

Re: New brakes/discs - burning smell / red hot
it's not normal.
either calipers siezed in new position or perhaps you over tightened the bearings.
don't drive it fluid probably needs replacing now as it may have been boiled.
