Give me a shout if you get in contact with CJH about the part, I could do with a couple for back up. I PM'd him on 15th Jan but no reply as yet :(

I have pmd CJH, but only at 10:30 last night so understandably no reply as yet!

With the carb in bits in the garage, the van is obviously off the road so I may have to go with wherever I can get it quickest.

Thanks to Kevtherev, I now have a new linkage.

I'm stuck fitting it though, will I need to remove the top part of the carb?

I've taken top of the carb off and there doesn't appear to be enough room to get the replacement linkage in past the end of the choke spindle.

Does the choke spindle have to come off?

Thanks

Yes, you have to remove the choke flap and slide the spindle out.

Cheers, not had to this before.

Do you just undo the screws on the choke flap.

I presume threadlock on the choke flap screws?

I believe they are peened over or centre punched but a good fitting screwdriver will undo them, a bit of thread lock when doing them back up.

Just to update.

I managed to get the new linkage in. Unfortunately, despite being super careful, I managed to damage the thread of one of the choke flap screws. It won't tighten or loosen so will have to be drilled out?

That's a pain! Can you apply a bit of upward force on the screw while unscrewing it, a thin blade under the head? or a bit of pressure from the back, just to help it out...
then check the screw thread and the thread in the spindle to see which has gone, fingers crossed its the screw thread.

Thanks, I've already tried the flat screwdriver under whilst turning but will try it again.

I have plenty of flaps here.
I won't remove them but I can send you a couple of bodies to try
No problem
Or you can just use them

Thanks for the offer Kev, you've been very kind already.

Can't I just replace the screws with new ones? They're just countersunk screws aren't they?

Stainless would be ok.
