well no, but I may be wrong, mine has paper gaskets each side of the thick 'spacer' so I assumed this was normal but maybe not. I wouldn't want to spend 12 quid each time I took the carb off on the spacer.

In 14 years mine's only been off the manifold once and that was when it was replaced ... to swap engines I take the manifold off.

I agree its a good time for a carb overhaul....or at least a clean out
