Converting early T25 fuel tank to late

Post by morzov »

I've read that early T25 petrol tanks such as mine (1982 2.0 A/C) have a 68mm metal filler pipe and that at some that was changed to a 48mm plastic pipe.

Pretty sue my tank is leaking and just wondering if it is possible to use a later tank (I can source a good used one) either with my original metal pipe - in which case I'd need an adapter but can't find one.

Or is it easy to convert to a 48mm plastic pipe set up?

Hope that makes sense.

Ok cheers that works for me - so use late tank with late pipe (48mm plastic)?

In case anyone else doing this, this appears to be the seal to allow a 48mm pipe to be used in place of 68mm

Just a further thought.

The seal between the plastic pipe and the later tank is where the pipe enters the tank ?

However, what I'm not sure on is whether any additional hardware is needed at the other end where the filler cap is or is there a new seal required at either end of the plastic pipe?

Be grateful for any info on this

email brickwerks & they can put all the parts together for you - I would advise replacing all the seals etc around the filler cap as well (as they are likely to be totally shot by now) - have a look on the brickwerks website & they have loads of helpful advice on each part number.
