wbx 1.9 injection running rich

Post by jan »

Hi again, I am still having trouble with my wbx1.9i. So all was good. Then had new S/S exhaust. New plugs, air filter, oil (twice). Fitted new lambda (bosch) and it is still being very smoky (blue) when hot and idling. Today I did a compression test and its 150/160/150/170 psi. The new plugs were very black and sooty so I suspect its running rich. Whats annoying is that it ran great before any of this work was done. Anyone got any ideas whats causing the smoking at tick over? Is this me just being stupid (quite likely) but could a new exhaust without a cat cause this? Cheers folks and merry Christmas and a fault free van for the new year. (TeeHee)

Start with the ecu coolant temp sensor (aka Temp 2) and its plug. Check for green terminal crimps and also a bad earth return in the engine bay. Add another braided earth strap if necessary, they all benefit from one tbh, (especially near the starter) to shorten the current path.
