1.9 petrol starter motor problem?

Post by jan »

As above, started my van to test something else I was doing, switched it off and the starter motor carried on whirring. I disconnected the battery sharpish. Now when I reconnect the battery it engages and the engine tuns over (without a key in the ignition). I,m guessing solenoid or ignition switch? And I mean guess. Cheers for any advise. Again.

It is usually the solenoid contacts have stuck caused by the Bendix mechanism seizing or the solenoid contacts have welded together. Or the red/black trigger wire has a short to live.
