I am about to change the tie rod bushes so I thought I would replace the flexible hoses whilst the van is in the air. I have got the front ones on but the rubber bushes just fall to the bottom of the hose. Am I missing something? shouldn't they stay higher up? What have you don in this instant?
I don't know where I am, but I'm having a lovely time!

What are they meant to do? There's none of them on mine. Not shown on here either.https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/typ+ ... 611-65000/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They stop the pipe from rubbing on the chassis I presume. The old ones had a length of tube at the top and bottom.

They have grommets on for going through bodywork - are you sure that you have the correct ones?
They don't look like anything that I have put on mine.

Put small cable ties where they should be to keep the bushes in place.

I can only assume so as I ordered the right ones.

Just looked at yours on Brickwerks - odd that they have them made to their specs yet have those loose grommets like that. Intriguing to say the least. Do the Syncros use ones like that and they are trying to dual purpose them, I muse quietly to myself.

Mine have those grommets on too, flopping loosely (also bw). No idea. It's as if they're for another vehicle or application, as said before..

The last query that I read on this grommet matter had a response that went something like "thats how the manufacturer supplies them and no, we dont get it either!"

They are on now and they fit OK so I'll follow Ian's advice and fix them on higher up some how.

It is a pity that standard ones don't have stainless ferrules though.
