Re: Rebuild Thread (Probably)
Hi Folks. My Marco Mansi pump arrived yesterday so I'm planning to switch out this morning. A quick question: Do I need to drain the oil and coolant before I start?

Re: Rebuild Thread (Probably)
Thanks Paul. Job done. Closer to 8 hours than 1.
Worth the effort and the cost though. Getting just over 2 Bar at 2000 rpm at 80 Deg. Not ideal but a lot better than where I was a couple of weeks ago.
Here’s the new pump and a few photos of the pump and the job.

Excellent news, that pump is a work of art, don't forget to tell Marco he will appreciate the feedback.
What oil is giving you 2 bar at 80 degC 2000rpm is it 15w40? or 15W50?

20W50 but then same oil was giving me 1 bar @ 80 Deg before the oil pump replacement.itchyfeet wrote:What oil is giving you 2 bar at 80 degC 2000rpm is it 15w40? or 15W50?

Re: Rebuild Thread (Probably)
It looks as if the carburetor I got is a genuine 2E3 after all. It’s missing a stud. Thinking I might strip it down at the weekend and see what condition it’s in.

Re: Rebuild Thread (Probably)
Here are the bits I got with it. I have a DG inlet manifold and DG heads on a DG block. What am I missing to finish my air inlet system?

Re: Rebuild Thread (Probably)
Have a look here for the parts diagram for the air filter-
https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/typ+ ... 129-22015/
and here for the water pipes - more difficult to see here, and you might already have all you need
https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/typ+ ... 121-16016/
Hopefully someone will be along shortly with a quick answer.. I don't have a 2e3 carb setup

Re: Rebuild Thread (Probably)
Thanks Carter’s. There must be square filters as well as circular ones. Good to know.

early DGs had square as far as I know
get a pic up of your entire engine bay and we can help with hoses, there is one that's very expensive if I remember from expansion tank to carb
