how long did you run the new oil before the adjustment?

They're the best, and also the cheapest. I think that might be it. :-D
I can't find anyone else selling them, and some suppliers even tell me KS don't do them any more! There are some advertised as KS on the bay of fleas but they're NOT KS. They apologised and refunded me instantly when I pressed them on it. They're still listing them as KS. Twarstards.

There are a few places selling them if you search on the KS part number: 50007625

The BW price is very competitive though.

Sorry, Chris, yes that's how I searched, and I should have said I can't find anyone selling them at a price I'm prepared to pay!

Update.
The final few things have now been sorted.
Gearbox oil change.
Reverse light switch replaced, corroded wiring renewed.
Coolant leak from the vapouriser and #2 bleed
Alternator swap.
Fit new sump plug.
Fit new selector shaft bearing and boots.

Had to remove the rear exhaust to get the gearbox drain plug out with the tools at hand
Used a better gasket from my spare vapouriser, and had to use some sealant on the bleed nipple for #2.
Put my old 65a Golf alternator back on as the 90a one that came with the engine wasn't giving the full fat 14.2v..
Even with the same regulator.
Gear selection suffered for the new boots, but after some advice from Aidan, I fitted them correctly, and eased the support mount and cup away from the ball

Total hours spent 42.
Money saved £1680.00p*

So that is it, and what a ride, I really have enjoyed doing this, so now my attention turns to bodywork.
Which is out of my hands, no spanners required.

*£40/hr labour, local mechanic rate.
Inc 'research' and paid breaks :D

I have a bottom half touch up planned, just want to keep on top of it.
Been quoted £900, and as there's little or no steel work to be done I'm ok with that

Yes, quite true.
I have just removed the distributor on the old engine to discover it's an N suffix

Well I am chuffed.
Initial tests are very encouraging.
I filled up with oil and turned the engine over just using the starter (no plugs)
Took several 15 second bursts but the oil light went out, and a healthy 60psi pressure (wet guage) on the crank.
Cold compression check next.
Happy to report 13bar on all cylinders.
Tomorrow we'll fit the new clutch slave and fill it up with coolant.

Nice compression. It’s amazing what clean rings, a glaze bust and properly lapped valves can do. :ok
