Input/spigot shaft play.

Post by kevtherev »

After engine removal it was discovered there was some input shaft play.
This I assume is a bearing.
So how's it resolved?

Does the front of the gearbox have to be removed?

looks that way

There is always “play”. Just depends how much. Is the input seal leaking?? If not then it’s fine. If it’s leaking the oil thrower scroll is prob damaged. Bellhousing should come off to inspect scroll and shaft properly.

OK Thanks Si
I replaced the seal about 8 years ago and the bell housing although a bit oily does not smell like gear oil
I will take the throw bearing off and take a look tho

Nice to hear from you mate
I still owe you some so we need to sort that out. :ok

There will be play the in input shaft until it is supported by the spigot bearing in the flywheel.
