Is it worth it? I’ve a 1.6 JX engine and was wondering if adding the diesel injector cleaner (the stuff that’s usually £4 a bottle) to the next fill up.
Will I notice a difference or is it all snake oil.
Thanks

Re: Diesel Injector Cleaner
I’d say it was snake oil, but I’ve no proof. The questions I’d ask are :-
How old is my engine? (~30yrs? Recon or original? Good recon or unknown “recon”?
What else might be wrong with it?
How is its performance? How might that compare to new?
And then:-
Is this stuff going to make a massive difference against everything else that’s going on with this engine?

Re: Diesel Injector Cleaner
I wasn't going to respond but have changed my mind, even though I don't do diesels.
£4 snake oil. On petrol engines the Forte cleaners are used by the trade and do work. However they will only improve things if you have a problem. Try putting some non supermarket fuel in, like Shell v-power, that has lots of decent additives. Costs more, but potentially better mpg - have a read around.

Re: Diesel Injector Cleaner
Just had my vauxhall Varvaro work van done professionally in the garage. Made little difference at £100. Have used the other pour in cleaners as well and there has been not really enough difference to notice. Cheep fuel and short journeys not good for diesels

Re: Diesel Injector Cleaner
they are cleaners and do exactly that, they wont recondition your engine or injectors, I use it regularly and it makes a difference on the heavy diesel fumes

Re: Diesel Injector Cleaner
The ones that need to pour into diesel are mainly kerosene. Does not harm, run cleaner, but does not clean a lot.
Real cleaner fluids like liqui moly are used as a fuel from their can instead the diesel from the tank.

Re: Diesel Injector Cleaner
Probably notice more of a difference with 2l of unleaded in a full tank of diesel like we used to do in the very old days
