Water pump on Isle of Wight
The water pump has started spitting drops of water, not too much at the moment.
Going to be here until Saturday and then heading back to Essex.
Question is
Do I keep an eye on it, top up and get home slowly
Or
Get a part delivered from Brickwerks, probably take 2 days to get here and try and find somewhere to fit it.
Or
Does anyone know of a place on the IoW that might be able to do it?
Cheers
Sean

I'd keep an eye on it( temp etc)and just keep it topped up till you get home.or buy water pump and call out rac or AA if your with them and get them to fit it if your worried.

Re: Water pump on Isle of Wight
tricky one, water pumps can just go really quick, this is your last warning.
Personally I'd buy one and have it delivered, they ususally despatch quick.
even if you don't fit it now you will have it to fit when you get home or if you break down on route the AA man might fit it for you
If you are foolishly temped to drive it make sure the level sensor works, if it does not then personally I would not drive it, no coolant often means dead engine.

Re: Water pump on Isle of Wight
My main concern is really to get back on the mainland as it would be a bugger if it broke down on the IoW. So am going to chance it with much caution on Saturday.
In order to take the pressure of the van I have hired a car for our final two days here.
Van booked in at my usual garage for next week. God willing it will all be fine. If not, you will see me in the wanted section looking for a new engine

Did I mention checking level sensor?

Check that the belt tension is not too tight?

+1 ^^^ this kills pumps
slacken it off maybe.
Re: Water pump on Isle of Wight
Yep will do that as well. TBH the pump is probably as old as the engine which is the original so no surprise it would go at some point.

Tension and sensor fine. Water pump is just spitting so coolant loss minimal. Managed to get straight onto the ferry without waiting an hour early! Thankfully it doesn't look like it will be too hot today.
Praying that the Dartford Tunnel will be flowing!

If the tunnel is flowing you will need a submarine.

Free of water
Made it home, didn't go over 50 all the way back and Gully didn't miss a trick. Don't know what I was worried about!

Re: Water pump on Isle of Wight
Having read Covkids wiki on the water pump I have taken the easy route and booked it in.
