Advice please, I went to replace the spring seat on my trailing arm that is out to replace the mount and found this
So the question is:
1. Repair - I’m reasonably confident in my welding that I can put a flat section of 3mm steel in.
2. Replace because I shouldn’t repair it, with a pair of 14 trailing arms
3. Upgrade to 16” arms but, a. Is it worth it for the extra wheel options, b. Do I need to replace anything else for 16” parts for them to fit? I think I remember syncrodai saying he moved his arches back but I’m not sure if that was for the 16 arms or just for his wheel choice.

Re: Repair or replace syncro rptrailing arms
If they're both like that then I'd say find a pair of decent used 14" ones and replace.
The 16" arms are about tyre choice - they're longer between the wishbone and bearing housing so have extra clearance for 205R16 and bigger. However as you've noted this puts the wheels slightly further back and so there's a risk of catching the arch with a big tyre unless it's modified. Also you need to consider that bigger tyres will effect your gearing. You can still use 16" rims with the 14" arms only you're limited to a 215/70 R16 tyre or smaller.

Re: Repair or replace syncro rptrailing arms
What are arms like at the rubber bush end? This is another common area for corrosion, often inside out as crud gets up inside. I had one collapse while driving offroad - not a pleasant experience!
Give them a good prod with screwdriver, and wire brush and visually inspect.

If your Syncro is a 14", they're the same as 2WD arms. This helps you with price and availability.
