DG knocking and Lossing Power

Post by Chunksta »

Hi guys,

My DG engine has developed a worrying knock once warmed up.

It sounds almost like a solid donk noise, and feels/sounds like she’s only firing on three pots.

Had a look through wiki, and cannot find any articles relative to this kind of issue.

I’m sure it’s happened to more experienced guys than me, so am putting it out there for a bit of brainstorming, before I pull the engine out.

Oil changed every six months as mileage never more than 400 a year.

Thanks in advance

I would do a compression test. Mine went into Campershack and had one piston, rings, con rod and liner replaced with engine in situ.

Can you get underneath to use a stethoscope / long screwdriver to identify if the knocking noise is coming from the centre or one side of the engine ?
