Gear linkage grease confusion

Post by badgerfax »

Hi, Just in the process of process of refurbing the gear linkage & have cleaned up the caked shifter box which had a mixture of solid white gunk and thick grey gunk fouling it.

What is the recommended grease for this area and the various bushes.

I used standard grease a couple of years ago when I replaced the bush & UJ near the fuel tank & this looks to have dried out so will need to clean this up & redo.

Some say ptfe(teflon)/silicone is the right stuff but have also seen moly grease & the white spray on stuff(lithium????)

Confused so hope someone can help :ok

I used spray on grease - seemed to do the job. Half the battle seems to be getting all the old crud off.
