2.0 CU engine rebuilds

Post by Jackrobbo »

I’m wanting to get my engine rebuilt once I finish my body work and was wanting to order parts now. I’m one of those who tinkers to improve so standard isn’t looking much fun.

What parts do you guys recommend for a better performing engine I’ve read up about a few Porsche parts that will fit and offer better performance. Also read about a 2.4CU conversion which sounds perfect anyone know anything more about these or can link me to a build thread etc?

Also where can you buy parts for this from I’m still really new to air cooled and classics

Do a search for Jake Raby, his rebuilds are expensive though. The CU is a type 4 engine and used in many performance vw modifications.

A man of your abilities should be more ambitious....... put a Boxster engine in, even an early 2.5 has 204hp and prices are not that high. Getting on for B32 performance

You will need to install all that water stuff as well, it'll make a great build thread :rofl

I’m well into Aircooled to be honest. Want to keep the bus Aircooled I’ve thought about a scooby conversion but I’ve got my golf R so this isn’t for speed as such haha

I'm also into Aircooled, B32 is Aircooled, but an awful lot more money,

2.4 should probably get you 100-130 hp, depending what else you do, I think Heritage have the parts, but other sellers, incl direct from the US will likely be cheaper

Might need to do this sooner than expected haha as mines started knocking hopefully nothing major and I’ll find the bits for the 2.4 100hp was what I was hoping for so will be chuffed with anything more
