Re: How to get a great handbrake?
I'm retired from it now but the most common question I got when servicing brakes was "Can you give me a quote?". I never could as you often find that you have to replace so much of the system to get back to anything approaching acceptable. What might have started out as a faulty caliper for instance, can quickly become brake hoses and whole sections of brake pipe. I won't even attempt to remove a rear drum without new wheel cylinders ready. Brakes are the one thing I still do myself for that reason. I have to be absolutely sure in my own mind that when I really need them most, they will do the job - and pass the MOT. I'm not sure I'd trust anyone else with that so I'm stuck with that job until I can train my son

Yesterday I replaced the brake shoes and the ( automatic ?) adjuster bar thingy ( in 35 deg c heat!)
The adjuster bars work! Pumping the brake pedal brought the pedal up!
28 c and sunny at 3000 feet in the mountains.
