Symptoms are immediate engine shutdown either when driving or standstill idling. So in my opinion electrical and not fuel. Can happen two or three times in five miles. Always restarts though. Is this the famous westy cough?
First checks were leads and out of interest plug removal. Considering this is warm up period first thing early morning plug is very lean looking to me. And recent MOT emissions read:
CO=1.26% ......max 3.50
HC=57PPM....max 1200.
Where do l start? Check timing?
Check idle stabiliser? Earth wires in engine compartment?
ECU? Mine is jammed ......ie not mounted... between coolant tank and bodywork left of access flap
Your advice please?
Regards
Stuart

Re: DJ 2.1Auto Injection stalling issue.
Check all earths by all means.
I can only offer generic advice, others will have more specific DJ experience, there might be a well known fault, hopefully
Sounds like it could be a break in a wire within a loom / connection braking down under heat. Pull all connections for ignition feed, fuel pump, ecu etc, make sure they are clean and then be prepared to spend lots of time wiggling cables with the engine running. Read the wiring diagrams too.
Intermittent problems are a right pain.
oh, and get that ECU mounted properly

Hi Carrera,
Yeah! Thanks. Now had engine idling for ten minutes until fan kicked in without any issues. It does cough a little when fan cuts in and out and apart from getting a wee shock from alternator cable all seems fine.
Found dislodged wire on power steering pump too. And petrol cap letting out fumes? Is that normal in hot weather?
Whats your view on plug colour?
Thanks
Stuart
Just about to press send and bugger cuts out

Re: DJ 2.1Auto Injection stalling issue.
It's not unusual for revs to drop momentarily when the rad fan cuts in, especially if it's a high powered fan.
Petrol cap shouldn't be letting out fumes. It'll likely be the usual breather pipe issues, but if you have done those check the seal on the tank cap and the plastic pipe to the tank.
Plug colour looks ok to me, always greyer on modern engine management systems

Two years since I let my van go to the great recycling centre So I cant help much, but if your ecu is just wedged in is it getting a good earth?
I remember the harness has multiple earths around the engine bay, but does the ecu case also act as an earth? Even if the case only acts as to screen the internals from the electrical noise of the enging bay it may cause intermitant problems.
