Checked with him and they're definitely spot welded in. Unfortunately we're off for a European trip for a few months tomorrow.

Could it be possible the weld has failed?

More to the point did mechanic tighten to correct torque with vehicle under its own weight and wheels back on ground, and set camber too?

Very worthwhile painting a white mark on the head of the bolt, to track its rotation. Then u can just keep an eye on it. Mine shifted a bit a few days after I did the job, but then was able to just retighten it to the right spot, it Hasn't budged since. Doesn't help your squeaks but will keep you mobile on your trip. Just need that 14mm Allen key or whatever it is (17 even?)
