Caliper advice

Post by matthew13 »

1983 Aircooled 2ltr cu engine. I just bought a caliper repair kit but the piston boot/seal doesn't fit snuggly onto the caliper, It seems to be a couple of mm too big It fits perfectly over the 54mm piston. Can anyone tell me which kit i should be buying? The Bosch one i bought was for ATE calipers. Cheers

Hello Matthew,

ATE brakes for CT 1600 are 2 piston types

we're not going anywhere soon as it's just failed it's CT on all the bodywork rust.......and there's plenty of it :(

The coil was fine but still really don't know what the problem was. Our mechanic was at it for hours and he know runs pretty good. Having to run him with vacuum hose disconnected but apparently thats ok!!

Pretty sure now that the calipers are Girling ones now that i can see the mark on them. Any ideas which is the best repair kit for them?
Will definately come over once he's CT'd

cheers

Depends on which make of calipers you have, Girling or ATE the seals are not interchangable. And all Aircooled T25's used twin piston calipers.

At that price you might as well buy the original Girling kit
