Re: 1.9 DG pushrod tubes
Scat big mouth ( VW heratige sell them) are fine IMO but I have heard they will eventually leak because they are upside down on a WBX and oil sits on the seal, I think the cost saving is worth the risk as you can buy them twice for the cost of the proper ones ( Brickwerks sell those)
Re: 1.9 DG pushrod tubes
Hello, I just had one to replace so went telescopic route - reasonably quick job (I’m in the keen amateur camp at best) and no more drips. I got it from VW Heritage.

what are those with threads? never seen those
Re: 1.9 DG pushrod tubes
Funny you should say that cause I couldn't find them anywhere else either. They gave a little bit of adjustment for tightening/slackening tube but I bottled it and bought a telescopic one. Engine came in a box with van and no paperwork/receipts etc for rebuild.

Home made perhaps?
looks like you can adjust them on the threads telescopic maybe just not spring loaded?
have you got the one you removed ?
if so can you take more pics?

If you read the comments somehow they can be modded to fit a WBX

Re: 1.9 DG pushrod tubes
JK link says does not work with WBX because diameters are same both ends.
Re: 1.9 DG pushrod tubes
Here’s the ends together....
They are identical, when I removed the seals one was very tight, both had sealant all around.

It does, but read the comments and someone modded them to fit, and they have come out of Ecopods engine at the same size. I don't know enough about WBX to comment further.

yes loads of people they are A1 but expensive.
Re: 1.9 DG pushrod tubes
I had a senior moment,
I got my telescopic tube from Brickwerks (after accidentally ordering heater levers!) - £24 inc VAT. Very easy to use and great quality.

Re: 1.9 DG pushrod tubes
As I'm rebuilding my engine, is there any advantage to telescopic ones other than ease of replacement?
