Scat big mouth ( VW heratige sell them) are fine IMO but I have heard they will eventually leak because they are upside down on a WBX and oil sits on the seal, I think the cost saving is worth the risk as you can buy them twice for the cost of the proper ones ( Brickwerks sell those)

Hello, I just had one to replace so went telescopic route - reasonably quick job (I’m in the keen amateur camp at best) and no more drips. I got it from VW Heritage.

Funny you should say that cause I couldn't find them anywhere else either. They gave a little bit of adjustment for tightening/slackening tube but I bottled it and bought a telescopic one. Engine came in a box with van and no paperwork/receipts etc for rebuild.

If you read the comments somehow they can be modded to fit a WBX

JK link says does not work with WBX because diameters are same both ends.

Here’s the ends together....

They are identical, when I removed the seals one was very tight, both had sealant all around.

It does, but read the comments and someone modded them to fit, and they have come out of Ecopods engine at the same size. I don't know enough about WBX to comment further.

I had a senior moment,

I got my telescopic tube from Brickwerks (after accidentally ordering heater levers!) - £24 inc VAT. Very easy to use and great quality.

As I'm rebuilding my engine, is there any advantage to telescopic ones other than ease of replacement?
