Exhaust Emission Test Results

Post by islandboy »

I'm pleased to say my van passed MOT emissions yesterday but I would be interested to know if the results tell me anything.

The engine is 1987 1.9 DG petrol WBX

Readings:
HC 97ppm vol
CO 0.71 % vol The specification in my handbook stated 1.5% +/-0.5%

Any comments much appreciated

I would say that looks pretty good, though perhaps a fraction weak at idle. Did you get any readings for "fast idle" ?

It's more important for the mixture to be right throughout the range and particularly under acceleration.

Thanks 937,

They didn't give any Idle Speed when the readings were taken.

The acceleration and performance uphill isn't that brilliant since I had carb refurbish recently so perhaps need slight adjustment to richen the mixture
