As above,whose replaced one...what tools did you need/use?

Has to be pressed out and the new one pressed in. Vast majority take the knuckle to a garage to have it done. The other option is to make a DIY press:

Thanks Cov,I've got the added complication of the one piece wishbone ( late syncro ) I do have a bearing press though...

you will need at least 20 ton press and solid support for the arm. Ive crushed several of support tools before I made one out of hefty 5mm stainless steel.

With some heat from a gas blower, I was able to just stand on the knuckle and beat the ball joint out with a lump hammer. It's got a good target area to whack on ;-) just make sure you've removed the circlip thing
