I need to replace my downpipe and could do with some studs just in case.
They are generally unavailable, although I could send for some from Germany.
They are M8 x 38 and I think 10.9 hardness. Has anybody tried making their own by cutting down an M8 bolt? If so was it successful?
Have I got the hardness correct?
Any other thoughts please.
Thanks

Re: JX Turbo to exhaust studs
Have you tried emailing BW to find out when they might be getting more stock?

Re: JX Turbo to exhaust studs
I used to buy all my studs from the local motor factors - they used to have a large stand with boxed sets of just about every type.

Re: JX Turbo to exhaust studs
Thanks for getting back.
Haven't contacted BW yet but assumed that, because it's not available from a number of sources, stocks generally are depleted.
My local tractor dealer has just found a supplier of M8 rod in 10.9. A metre of it should last a while!!

Re: JX Turbo to exhaust studs

If your still stuck I could find the turbo company's address ?

Re: JX Turbo to exhaust studs
I recently got some just like this:
Heritage parts Centre
Exhaust or Intake Stud
Part Number: N01444312R
Stud on cylinder head for exhaust fitment on 1.2-1.6 Aircooled engines (including CT) and for intake manifold on 1700-2000cc Aircooled engines, 1600 cc… Learn More
In Stockbrand flag
£1.00
They are well finished and have the colour of high tensile fixings seem well tough. Maybe give Heritage a bell to check.

Re: JX Turbo to exhaust studs
Many thanks all.
Aidan came to the rescue (in spite of his dislike of diesels) and found me some. So huge thanks to him again.
I'll still have the bar from the tractor place if anybody gets stuck!!
