Oil filter change

Post by kentishvanman »

Hi,
As a matter of interest how many people add oil to the new filter before screwing it on.
Some books say you should others don't mention it.
I do but I have never spoken to anyone else that does.
Just a thought.

Always also - it is a pain when the engine is tipped over though and the filter isn't completely vertical.

Everytime, keep low/no oil pressure to absolute minimum. Never quite get my head around the concept of a bit of hard metal circulating inside a bit of soft metal separated by a gnat's "cock" of oil......

Yes, always. Did mine last night, started up oil light stayed on for a second then went out. As mentioned just a bit of a faff getting it quickly on without spilling any.
