I'm pretty sure it was Boatbuilder that did a grand job of making spring seats from plastic chopping boards, they looked the part. Sorry Itchy, as you were.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

I've since come across a rubber horse mat that would be perfect for spacers too...

^^^I see those were made becuse the repair section does not have the spring recess, but mine still has them so the sheet is whats needed becuse the sheet has to flex into the spring recess.
