1.7D Engine mount to engine fixing

Post by twd40 »

Morning all,
yesterday one of my brackets/ mounts broke whilst driving!!!! I have a 1990 1.7D, all seems to be ok but cannot work out what has gone missing I have the rubber mount still intact the engine has dropped slightly but I cant figure out where the engine bracket is or looks like.
Any help would be appreciated particularly if anyone has photos of it. The barcket that is giving me the headache is the O/S one Drivers side.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Point at which the aluminium engine mount bracket attatches to the side of the engine block loose/and or broken?
Between alternator and oil filter ,viewed from above!

Not the greatest of pics from underside but no contact from engine to mounting point. Missing a bracket or contact no sign of breakage or snapped off

Thanks Cecil just spotted the issue I assumed it would be underneath but just looked from topside and noticed the arm connected to the mount is not attached to the engine!!! Thanks for the help again Cecil, now I just need to find out where it gets connected to.

On further investigation I have found the two sheared bolts that were attached to the bracket to the engine so hopefully a repair can be achieved.
Thanks again Cecil for the identification of the non missing bracket just missing fixings!!

You now have the tricky task of removing the broken bolts from the engine block. If you resort to easy-out screw extractor stop if it does not work easily. You do not want to break one of them in there. You will need to check there is no distorsion or cracks to both the bracket and the engine block near the bolt holes. Do not be tempted to leave a bolt missing or it is likely to break again very soon !
